Meeting Notes: This area is intended to assist our members
that miss a meeting. This is not intended as a replacement for attendance to
our guild meetings. Members that miss meetings on a regular basis will open
their membership to review by the Guild Tribunal.
Meeting Topics Hail ELDERS.
Although ICQ is wonderful for brief messages, it never quite allows enough
space. As such, each week's coming meeting agenda will be placed here, for our
members to see. Please make note of any questions you may have regarding this
information, and be sure to bring those notes with you when you attend the
meeting.
- Meeting Topics - Wednesday August 13, 1997!
-
- Our New GAMES SECTION!: :D Thanks to our esteemed and dedicated member
Rillian, our website shareware
section is finally starting to develop. Rillian has added 4 new pages, and
more on the way. Download and play over 100 megs of shareware over our Kali
server tonight!
- Change is inevitable: Not
only our name is changing, but also our platform! Elders Online is slowing
making its migration to the Internet Gaming site of the next century (ok.. so we
have a little ways to go yet. ;) Visit our
Games Calender for a short list
of the improvements now in the works!
Meeting Notes from previous
meetings

-
- Website Chatroom!: It's
an official hit! Our website Java-based chatroom, complete with sounds, was
designed so well, that the java code developers upgraded us from a 100
simultanious users to 1,000 simultanious users, alone with unlimited
channels/rooms, designated channel operator status, and registered nicknames!
That's a $400.00 upgrade for free! Why, you may ask? They believe, as we do,
that we've got a good thing going here. We'd like to thank
Webmaster, Inc. for their donation, and
suggest that if you need a website chatroom, Webmaster, Inc. offers solutions
from small to overwhelming numbers of users. They even offer trial versions,
and free versions! Be sure to tell them Elders Online sent you!
- Change Is Inevitable: In
case you haven't noticed, the Elders of Diablo has started its progressive move
towards becoming a multi-platform gaming guild, and has changed its name to The
Elders. Our website and online gaming server have collectively come to be known
as Elders Online. As our current "Cell" structure has served us well
thus far, however, we feel to best serve our members, it is best to revise our
rank status. We'll be dicussing new options at the meeting. Be there, if you
would like a say in the matter. Meetings will now be held on our
Elders Chat server.
- 07/30/97
-
- New Name: It was bound to
happen. In order for our guild to continue to grow, Elders of Diablo had to
change its name. While our guild was originally formed on Battlenet (Blizzard
Entertainment's gaming server), to provide Diablo addicts... err.. players :) a
safe group to play with, our recent move to a Kali Secure Server, has given us
options to play over 60 multiplayer games. After hours of suggestions, Lord
Elias decided to stay with his first idea, and alter our name from Elders of
Diablo, to simply ELDERS. EoDNET, is now Elders
Online. Watch for new logos and web pages.
- 07/23/97
-
- Open House: Elders
Online, formerly EoDNET, has kept its members so secure from outside intrusion,
that our membership has been finding it hard to meet new prospective members!
To address this problem, the membership decided that Elders Online should open
their doors to outside gamers at least one day a week. Watch your ICQ for
advanced warnings. :)
- Promotions:
Congratulations are in order for now Magistrate Akar of the Silent Warriors!
Magis Akar was one of the original founding members of ELDERS.
Now second in command of the largest Cell of ELDERS,
Magis Akar will be able to assist Lord Grim in his duties of managing the Silent
Warriors of ELDERS.
- Ultima Online: Thank you
to ELDERS own Lord Soth and visiting Sir
Korbundar, beta testers for Ultima Online, who fielded frienzied questions from
our members. Our distinguished guests conveyed that Ultima Online is still
extremely laggy, so much so that they spend more time fighting lag than evil
monsters. Their consensus, however, was that Ultima Online will live up to it's
pre-release hype. We'll keep you posted.
- 07/16/97
-
- New Positions:
Congratulations to new Archmagus Belgar, who was chosen to head EoD's New
Member Recruiting, Training, as well as Gaming Organization. AM Belgar shared
his ideas of several new games that EoD members will soon be able to play, as
well as an interactive gaming bulletin board where members can post their names
well in advance for games they'd like to play, and other members can sign up!
Congratulations are also in order for
Magistrate Time (formerly Lordnevercheat) of the Circle of Light Cell. Magis
Time, as is his official title, will be responsible for a great deal of the
present organization and the future grow of the Circle of Light! We are lucky
to have him, as he makes a fine addition to our officers.
- New Chatrooms: Since the
move to our secured Kali server, the only complaint that our membership has had,
has been the lack of a Battlnet-style chatroom. Well... not to be outdone..
:) EoDNET announced it's intentions of creating an even more attractive and
functional chatroom, complete with up to 7 different avatars to choose from
(Battlenet only offers the standard three). Members at the meeting were able to
test the new chatroom on another chatroom format. We will be creating a "Virtual
Chatroom" in a graphic environment, probably a Castle meeting room, with a
"Round Table" style. More information will be available from your
Cell Commanders.
- Ultima Online: Our first
real discussions about UO (Ultima Online). We will be appointing a committee to
start work on the project.
- 06/18/97
-
- Co-op Games: Lord Gabriel,
Cell Commander of the Circle of Light clan spoke about the growing number of
members being Player-Killed when they play in public games. He suggested that
EoD members play in the guild-only password protected games. A list of these
games can be found at our games page.
- Enjoyment of Co-op games:
Lord Grim spoke of the recent occurrence of members forging into areas of the
dungeons that their characters just aren't ready for, and expecting the other
guild members to come rescue them every time they die. While we as a guild
always protect our members, it isn't fair for one member to assume the others
will come to your aid if you continue to rush into areas that you have died in
several times during the same game. It isn't fair to the other members, since
they will have to leave their adventuring to save you.
- Members-Only: Watch for
an all new Members-Only area
of our web site, now under construction. Now in the works are: Observations
from Lolita, in-depth reviews of game strategy, dueling tips, and Cooperative
gaming guidelines; and much more! Check back often for updated column topics.
Also available will be our "Most-Wanted" list, for our Enforcers to
hunt Player-Killers that have attacked our membership; a list of our current
membership an their respective email addresses, ICQ numbers, and Battlenet ID
numbers; and our "Promotion Quests" page devoted to the true essence
of good gaming, with quests devised by our respective Cell Commanders geared to
accelerate rank promotions within each cell.
- 06/11/97
-
- Name Change: EoD members
unanimously decided to add their rank, cell membership, and guild at the end of
their names. i.e. Joe(SSW)[EoD]. The first "S" signifies the rank
of Squire, the "SW" signifies the cell of Silent Warriors, and the "EoD",
of course, signifies the Elders of Diablo.
- EoD Tags: All consenting
EoD members to add their Bnet account numbers to their ICQ "info"
area. This is NOT mandatory, however, will help us in locating one another on
Bnet.
- Guild Games Only: All
guild members will use only the guild game names (found at our
games page) so that members can find other guild
members to play with at any time. Weekly game passwords will be emailed or
ICQ'd to all members on Sundays, for the following week.
